WEEK 5 - "You're a wizard," Tony Vincent!
Tony Vincent's website "Learning in Hand" gives "the Incredibles" family a run for their money with how incredible it is. It is almost overwhelming when you first look at it, because there are tips, tricks, and tidbits everywhere you look on that website, I tell you!
There are all the topics and discussions you could ever think of! If you have a question about using technology smartly in the classroom, I guarantee your answer will be found on this site. He has established social medias such as Instagram and Twitter as outlets for additional learning and follow-up with him. The thing that I love about his website is that he very clearly (with cool little graphics!) shows how using social media and technology can be useful in the classroom. And not just in ways that are occasional situations that occur, but in every-day school-day life situations. I feel like his website is super applicable and necessary for my learning of implementing technology in my classroom some day! Which surprises me, given my tendency to be unsure about people who are super technologically-savvy and believe that relying on technology is the way that we should go in schools. I still maintain my hesitation of fully going all-in with all this technology, but my walls at least rumble and tumble a bit when I see people like Tony who are very convincing in the actual helpfulness of technology!
I especially like Tony's article on different gizmos and gadgets to use in the classroom, his article on how to set an alarm reminder with Siri (for people like me who don't have the ability to remember important events of life on our own...), and his article on ways to get to know your students better and formally assess them! These are all topics that are relevant to every-day life of being a teacher, and are little tips that I really think would help teachers to be the best teachers they can be!
His website seeps creativity and a savviness with technology that is inspiring to me for what is possible with technology. His little avatars of himself are very cute and fun and I could see students really enjoying seeing an avatar or them self or of their teacher. Little tips and tricks that seem to be enhancers in the classroom for student engagement and fun are all over his website.
I am going to FOR SURE mark this website in my bookmarks and return to it from here on out. Thank you, Mr. Tony Vincent, for the inspiration! As Michael Scott from The Office would say, "You are a gentleman and a scholar!"
